Overview

LGND Atlas™ Replacement Ceramic is a precision-engineered replacement diffusion element designed specifically for use with the LGND Atlas™ Inline CO2 Diffuser. Manufactured from high-density porous ceramic, the replacement membrane restores the diffuser's original atomization performance, ensuring consistent production of ultra-fine CO2 microbubbles for efficient carbon dioxide dissolution in planted aquariums.

The ceramic membrane is the heart of any CO2 diffuser system. Over time, mineral deposits, algae growth, organic residues, and normal wear can gradually reduce diffusion efficiency, resulting in larger bubbles, uneven atomization, and decreased CO2 absorption. Replacing the ceramic element allows the diffuser to return to near-original performance without replacing the entire diffuser assembly.

The Atlas™ Replacement Ceramic is engineered with a precisely controlled pore structure that produces a dense cloud of microscopic CO2 bubbles. These ultra-fine bubbles provide significantly greater surface area for gas exchange, allowing carbon dioxide to dissolve more efficiently into the aquarium water before reaching the surface.

Replacing only the ceramic element provides a cost-effective and environmentally responsible maintenance solution, extending the service life of the diffuser while maintaining optimal performance.

Directions

Before replacing the ceramic element, disconnect the CO2 supply and stop water flow through the diffuser. Remove the Atlas™ diffuser from the filtration system and carefully disassemble the diffuser housing according to the manufacturer's instructions.

Remove the existing ceramic element and inspect the internal sealing surfaces for debris, mineral deposits, or damage. Install the new LGND Atlas™ Replacement Ceramic, ensuring it is seated correctly and evenly within the diffuser assembly.

Reassemble the diffuser and verify that all seals and connections are correctly positioned. Reinstall the diffuser into the filter return line and restore water circulation before gradually reintroducing CO2 pressure.

Following installation, allow a short conditioning period for the ceramic membrane to become fully saturated. During the first hours of operation, atomization performance may continue to improve as water fully penetrates the microscopic pore structure.

Monitor bubble production through the diffuser viewing chamber and adjust working pressure if necessary to achieve optimal microbubble formation.

FAQ
Why would the ceramic element need replacement?

Over time, the microscopic pores within the ceramic membrane can become partially blocked by mineral deposits, algae, biofilm, or normal wear. Replacement restores optimal atomization performance and CO2 efficiency.

How do I know when replacement is necessary?

Signs may include larger bubbles, uneven diffusion across the membrane, reduced atomization efficiency, increased working pressure requirements, or reduced plant response despite unchanged CO2 injection rates.

Can cleaning restore performance?

In many cases, routine cleaning can restore performance. However, after prolonged use, the ceramic structure may gradually deteriorate and replacement may provide better results than continued cleaning.

Will replacing the ceramic improve CO2 efficiency?

A clean, properly functioning ceramic membrane produces finer bubbles and improves carbon dioxide dissolution efficiency. This helps maximize the amount of CO2 available to aquatic plants.

Is the replacement ceramic reusable?

Yes. The ceramic element is designed for repeated cleaning and long-term use. Proper maintenance can significantly extend its service life.

Why are microbubbles important?

Smaller bubbles provide a larger surface area relative to their volume. This increases contact time with water and improves the rate at which carbon dioxide dissolves into the aquarium.

Safety

For aquarium use only. Keep out of reach of children. Handle the ceramic element carefully during installation and maintenance. Ceramic materials are durable during operation but may be damaged by impact, dropping, excessive force, or improper handling.

Always disconnect the CO2 supply before disassembling the diffuser or replacing the ceramic membrane. Ensure the diffuser is completely depressurized before servicing. Inspect all seals and diffuser components during replacement — damaged seals may result in water leakage, gas leakage, or reduced diffusion performance.

If cleaning is performed before replacement, ensure that all cleaning residues are completely removed before returning the diffuser to service. Following installation, monitor the diffuser and all hose connections for proper operation before leaving the system unattended. Use only compatible replacement components designed for the LGND Atlas™ Inline CO2 Diffuser.
