Overview
Legend MediGreen Complete™ is a broad-spectrum freshwater treatment formulated to help manage some of the most common external diseases affecting ornamental fish, fry, and eggs. The formula combines antiparasitic, antifungal, and antiseptic properties to target white spot (Ich), fungal infections, and selected external protozoan parasites.
MediGreen Complete™ is particularly effective against Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (White Spot Disease), one of the most common parasitic infections encountered in freshwater aquariums. The treatment also helps control cotton wool-like fungal growths affecting fish, eggs, and damaged tissue while supporting recovery of stressed or weakened fish.
The medication works throughout the parasite's life cycle by targeting free-swimming infective stages while helping prevent secondary fungal complications commonly associated with skin damage caused by parasites.
MediGreen Complete™ is suitable for use in freshwater tropical and coldwater aquariums, quarantine systems, and hospital tanks. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment greatly improve recovery rates and help prevent disease transmission to healthy fish.
Indications
White Spot (Ich)
White Spot Disease appears as numerous small white dots resembling grains of salt scattered across the body, fins, and gills of infected fish. Affected fish frequently rub against decorations, plants, substrate, or aquarium equipment in an attempt to relieve irritation. Rapid breathing, clamped fins, reduced appetite, and lethargy may also be observed.
The parasite has a complex life cycle consisting of attached, reproductive, and free-swimming stages. Only the free-swimming stage is vulnerable to medication, which is why maintaining treatment for the full recommended period is essential.
Suggested Treatment Period:
7 consecutive days at the recommended dosage.
Special Considerations
Visible white spots may remain for several days after treatment begins. This does not indicate treatment failure. As the parasite completes its life cycle, new free-swimming stages are eliminated by the medication. Maintaining stable water temperature, strong aeration, and consistent dosing is critical for complete eradication.
Fungal Infections
Fungal infections typically appear as white, grey, or cotton wool-like growths on the body, fins, mouth, eyes, or damaged skin. Fungal growth commonly develops following injuries, transport stress, parasite infestations, poor water quality, or other underlying health problems.
Affected areas may gradually enlarge if left untreated, potentially leading to secondary infections and further tissue damage. Fish eggs and newly hatched fry may also be susceptible to fungal outbreaks under unsuitable environmental conditions.
Suggested Treatment Period:
7 consecutive days at the recommended dosage.
Special Considerations
Fungal infections are often secondary to another underlying problem. For best results, identify and correct any contributing factors such as poor water quality, injuries, aggression, or parasite infestations. Improved water quality and adequate aeration significantly enhance treatment success.
Directions
Before treatment, remove activated carbon, ion exchange resins, Purigen®, UV sterilizers, and ozone equipment. Ensure adequate aeration throughout the treatment period.
For standard aquarium treatment, dose 1 mL per 40 litres of aquarium water once daily for seven consecutive days. This dosage is suitable for most cases of White Spot and fungal infections.
For severe infections or quarantine/hospital aquarium use, dose 2 mL per 40 litres once daily for seven consecutive days while carefully monitoring fish behavior and oxygen levels.
Do not perform water changes between doses unless an emergency situation requires intervention. The medication will temporarily turn the aquarium water green. This coloration is normal and may remain visible for several days after treatment has been completed.
Following completion of the treatment course and once the colour has largely disappeared, a partial water change may be performed and activated carbon may be reintroduced if desired.
FAQ
Can MediGreen Complete™ be used with tropical and coldwater fish?
Yes. The treatment is suitable for most freshwater tropical and coldwater ornamental fish when used as directed.
Will the medication stain the water?
Yes. The treatment will temporarily colour aquarium water green. The colour gradually fades after treatment.
Should water changes be performed during treatment?
Routine water changes are not recommended during the treatment course unless necessary for emergency water quality management.
Can I use carbon during treatment?
No. Activated carbon and other chemical filtration media should be removed before dosing because they may remove the medication from the water.
How long does it take to eliminate White Spot?
Most infections improve significantly within the treatment period, but visible spots may remain temporarily while parasites complete their life cycle.
Can the treatment be used with fish eggs and fry?
Yes. The product may be used to help manage fungal infections affecting fish eggs and fry when used according to the recommended dosage.
Can I combine MediGreen Complete™ with other medications?
Combining medications is generally not recommended unless compatibility has been confirmed. If additional treatment is required, complete the current course first.
Safety
For aquarium use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets. This product may stain skin, clothing, silicone seals, decorations, and porous materials. Avoid contact with fabrics and household surfaces.
Wash hands thoroughly after use. Avoid contact with eyes and mouth. In case of accidental contact, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not overdose. Excessive dosing may stress sensitive fish species.
Maintain strong aeration during treatment, particularly at elevated water temperatures. Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Not intended for human consumption or veterinary use outside ornamental aquatic animals.
