Overview
SunSun JUP-02 UV Internal Filter is a compact all-in-one internal filtration system that combines mechanical filtration, water circulation, aeration, and ultraviolet sterilization within a single space-saving unit. Designed for freshwater and tropical aquariums, the JUP-02 helps maintain clearer water by removing suspended debris while simultaneously exposing circulating water to UV sterilization, helping to reduce free-floating algae spores, bacterial blooms, and water cloudiness.
The integrated 5W UV-C sterilization chamber operates within a protective quartz sleeve, allowing water to pass through the sterilization zone before being returned to the aquarium. Combined with its mechanical sponge filtration stage, the filter provides continuous filtration and water polishing while maintaining a compact footprint inside the aquarium.
An adjustable outlet allows the flow direction to be modified according to aquarium layout, while the integrated venturi air intake can introduce additional oxygen into the water column when required. Strong suction cups ensure secure mounting to aquarium glass, and the modular design allows easy access to both the filter sponge and UV lamp for routine maintenance.

Water enters the lower intake section where larger particles and suspended waste are trapped by the mechanical filter sponge. The filtered water then passes through the internal UV sterilization chamber containing the 5W UV-C lamp housed within a protective quartz glass sleeve. Exposure to ultraviolet light helps reduce free-floating microorganisms and algae spores before the water is returned to the aquarium through the adjustable outlet.
The integrated venturi system can also draw air into the water stream, increasing surface agitation and promoting oxygen exchange when additional aeration is required.
UV Lamp Replacement
Step 1 — Disconnect the filter from the power supply and remove the front filter housing.
Ensure the unit is completely unplugged before servicing. Carefully hold the main body of the filter and pull the front housing straight forward to access the UV sterilization chamber.
Step 2 — Rotate and remove the protective quartz sleeve cap.
Gently twist the retaining cap counter-clockwise until it releases. Avoid applying excessive force as the quartz sleeve is made from fragile glass.
Step 3 — Carefully withdraw the quartz glass sleeve.
Slowly slide the quartz sleeve out of the sterilization chamber. Handle with care and avoid impact or bending. Inspect the sleeve for limescale, algae deposits or cracks before reassembly.
Step 4 — Remove and replace the UV-C lamp.
Disconnect the existing UV lamp and install a compatible replacement. Ensure all components are fully seated before reassembling the unit in reverse order.
